IPSES (Italian Platform for Solid Earth Science) is the national research infrastructure that serves as a single, federated access point for data, products, and services in Solid Earth Sciences in Italy. Our mission is to promote scientific excellence and innovation by providing the scientific community, public entities, and industry with a wealth of multidisciplinary resources in accordance with the principles of Open Science and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data.
A long-term vision
Born out of the strategic impetus of the PNRR MEET (Monitoring Earth's Evolution and Tectonics) project, IPSES is designed to be a permanent research infrastructure, destined to evolve and serve the scientific community for the next decade and beyond. Going beyond the duration of the project that gave rise to it, IPSES aims to become the digital pillar for geoscientific research in Italy, ensuring the long-term sustainability and enhancement of the data produced by national infrastructures and their integration into the European context of EPOS ERIC.
The Partners
The value of IPSES lies in its solid collaborative foundation. The platform is the result of a joint effort by leading public research institutions and major Italian universities active in the field of Earth Sciences, many of which form part of the EPOS-Italia Joint Research Unit (JRU). This synergy guarantees the richness, quality and authority of the data and services offered, creating an integrated, cutting-edge knowledge ecosystem.
The institutions that form the core of IPSES are:
Coordinating Body:
Partners:
-
ISPRA - Italian National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research
-
OGS - National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics
This strategic alliance ensures that IPSES is not just a technological platform, but a true scientific community at the service of progress and society.
